Arturo Berned in ARCOmadrid 2023
By the hand of the Fernández-Braso Gallery, Arturo Berned presents this year in ARCOmadrid 2023 (7A24) two artworks from his most representactive series, HEADS: HEAD II (2022) and HEAD IV (2021).
The sculptures from the series HEADS, are fragments of other artworks from the series DAMES, whose shape represent the femininity. After separating them from the body, they begin to acquire their own personality, they are created looking for new movements, breaks, turns and folds, pursuing expressiveness through spatial tensions, shadows and voids.
The HEAD, a bust, inspiring motif in different places and moments throughout history: the Moai or Olmec heads, other more personal ones, such as the Tête of Modigliani, the Spleeping Muse by Brancusi or the Head of Montserrat by Julio González.
HEAD II, in corten steel and with a height of 182 cm, coinciding with the size of the man of Le Corbusier’s MODULOR, is the smallest artwork of the large format sculptures, creating an horizontal “one on one” look.
