TAKING SHAPE | A New Monumental Sculptural Project
Currently in production at the workshop, Arturo Berned’s latest monumental project consists of four stainless steel sculptures, each measuring 3.65 metres in height.
Conceived as a single sculptural ensemble, each of the four elements establishes a unique relationship with the others, creating a complex interplay of fluidity, tension and movement. The negative space between the sculptures becomes an integral part of the composition, giving equal importance to the forms themselves and the spaces they create.
At the studio, a working model made up of four stainless steel elements and a human figure for scale allows Berned to explore different arrangements and study how the sculptures relate to one another. This process helps determine their final positioning and the spaces that emerge between them.
As the project continues to take shape, we share a selection of photographs from the workshop alongside the studio model, offering a glimpse into the development of the work, from its composition to its fabrication.
The sculptural ensemble is scheduled for installation in Madrid at the end of December, with further details and the completed project to be revealed in the new year.
