The artwork “LADY DIOR” will be exhibited in Shenzhen and Shanghai in the next months
A few years ago, Arturo Berned was invited by Dior to interpret the iconic “Lady Dior” handbag for the traveling exhibition “Lady Dior as Seen By”.
The exhibition, first launched in 2011, focuses on artistic interpretations of the iconic handbag of the French fashion house, by artists from all around the world. All these exceptional artworks pay tribute, each in their own unique way, to the Dior style icon.
The “Lady Dior” bag was created in 1995 as a gift from the first lady of France, Bernadette Chirac to Princess Diana of Wales when she came to open the Cézanne Exhibition in Paris.
Arturo pays homage to the original design by reproducing part of the iconic drawing of his cannage stitching, replicating its shape through a solid steel ribbon that folds on itself generating the interior space that would contain the bag but leaving the same void.
Christian Dior’s round-the-world “Lady Dior As Seen By” exhibition continues to move, and it will open in Shenzhen and Shanghai before the end of the year 2021. The display has already been to Bangkok, Berlin, Milan, Tokyo and Sao Paulo among others.
