ARTWORK IN PROGRESS
ARTWORK ON PAPER
Few things I find more orderly than the water in a container, a glass or a swimming pool; it tames itself, seeking a simple position, with minimal effort, minimal tension; serenity, calm, order, stillness, silence.
How easy it is to draw that water, it is a horizontal, straight, infinite, simple, unique line.
At the same time, there is nothing more chaotic when that water is in motion: the sea, a river, a waterfall, a wave, the rain, a snowfall …, many drops of water moving chaotically and without rest.
Along with this chaos, I have always perceived, or have wanted to perceive, a rhythm, a cadence, some simple rules that govern this mysterious movement that relates each drop to its neighbor, and you are to the rest.
The exercise that I am developing tries to find these rules through geometry and drawing; I make use of the logarithmic spiral and the golden ratio, I operate with homotheties, translations, turns…, and the results are attractive chaotic and ordered arrangements of squares of different sizes and different orientation.
